Q: Mazda Tribute?
I am looking at purchasing a 2006 Mazda Tribute. Anyone have any advise or reviews they would like to share?

A: The Mazda Tribute is an overall good quality Midsized SUV for it's price. It uses the same engine and same platform as the Ford Escape, incase you were thiking of putting one of those into consideraton. With the Tribute you get 2 engine options the GX Inline 4 and the GX,GS,GT V6. With the GX-I4 you get a decent 153bhp and 152ft/lbs of torque. With the V6 you get a more comfortable and more usable 200bhp and 193ft/lbs of torque. I would recommend the AWD system as opposed to the FWD system for snow or heavy rain, and any off roading you might plan to do in the future. If you're looking into a Manual you won't be able to get it with the V6, unfortunately they only made it available with the I4, so you have to compromise. You get quite a bit of cargo space with the Tribute. Enough to hold most of what you might need to go on a camping trip if you fold down the rear seats. I myself wouldn't mind having one but for roughly the same price as a V6 model AWD youcan get a base Nissan Pathfinder which provides worlds more comfortability, space and luxury. If not you can also try a Nissan X-Trail or the Subaru Outback. I'd pick the Subaru, quality and the Symetrical AWD system are worth it.

Q: Where can I get a key made for a Mazda Tribute in Arkansas, or Tennessee, or Missouri?
I need to have an ignition key made and programmed for my Mazda Tribute. Thanks in advance, Rog. There isn't any Mazda dealers within fifty miles of where I live.

A: At any Mazda dealership... most likely the only place you can get those done. - Good Luck!

Q: Why do the needles on my mazda tribute float?
I have a 2003 mazda tribute and one day I noticed my rpm needle and my speedometer both float to the far right the speedometer went as high up as 100 the rpm also. It occurs simultaneously. I had it checked out they told me they couldn't find anything. I still have it happen from time to time but I am starting to worry that I may have transmission problems, I use to think it happened because I had the air conditioning on and the car was pulling then I realized there were times I was on level ground, also it would then float all the way to the left I didn't increase speed or loose speed the needles would just go crazy. Mazda told me that the weight of my keys in the ignition could be doing it, I don't have alot of keys on the ring. Help please I am ready to trade the car in, it has only 48,000 miles. Today when it happened it started to jerk as I was going up a slight hill.

A: There are two separate issues here. First, is the instrument cluster. There are a couple of fixes, one involves a reprogram, the other involves replacement of the cluster. The dealer will know by the codes in the IC module which one needs to be done. The other issue sounds like a transmission shudder or a misfire under load. One involves flushing the trans fluid, because moisture in the fluid will cause torque convertor shudder when shifting into o/d, the other may be simply a misfire, which should set a code in the computer that the dealer can retrieve and then fix the problem.

Q: Wicht one is the best deal for a Car Warranty for Less in a mazda tribute LX with 120.000 miles?
Witch Company is the best deal for a Car Warranty for less; for a 2002 Mazda Tribute LX with over 120.000 miles. By far this suv never ever gave me serious problems (knocking wood) but I start getting concerning because the high miles, I am trying to avoid buying a new car, that will be my last choice. The economic of this country is unstable.

A: For some people the warranties arent worth it but for me it is. I would have been really in a bind without it a couple times with my car when I didnt have the extra money to pay up front. I was really glad I had the extended warranty. It's not hard to get a estimate online to check how much it will run you for a policy. I have recommended http://warranty.safelinked.info - Good luck.

Q: how do i find out why my mazda tribute's battery light keeps flickering and the speedometer goes to 120?
my mazda tribute acts like it is stalling and then the battery light will flicker. Then the odometer and speedometer will go all the way up. What's happening?

A: You have an electrial short. What to do... well take it to an auto electrician. Or...... look at the fuses . see if the battery light or charging system are on the same system as the speedometer, If not then follow the wires from the speed to fusebox see if there is a burned or bare wire. Do the same from the battery light to the fuse box. Ok. Now look at the electrical connectors on top of the alternator... follow them to the fuses and see if there is a bare wire.... ok... Check the earth strap... ( the negative side of the battery) make sure it is balted tightly at the batter and to the body or chassis of the car. Ok... if all that checks out then it could be in the alternator its self

Q: Has anyone else out there found accessories for their Mazda Tribute?

Q: What kind of Wiring Harness should i use, I have a 2002 Mazda Tribute?
I just purchased a Pioneer headunit and i am not sure what kind of Wiring Harness i should get. I have a 2002 Mazda Tribute

A: Look here it is one of the best sites on the web for aftermarket audio installs. It gives anything and everything to get your tunes or vids rollin in your ride. I use this 20 times a day sometimes.

Q: Should I buy a 2002 Ford Escape or a 2002 Mazda Tribute?
The 2002 Ford Escape 4x4 XLT has 89,994 miles on it and the dealer wants $8,902. The 2002 Mazda Tribute ES has 82,124 miles on it and the dealer wants $9,415. (I'm not sure which is better. All the reviews I've seen rate them the same.) I'm test driving both on Monday.. Help!

A: When you test drive the Ford and Mazda place the vehicles on a highway stretch and get a feel for the vehicle, indulge and drive the vehicles for a long time. The Mazda will handle better at speed. While I know you may not be a racer by definition, you are mom. One of the best safety features is to avoid an accident in the first place. The Mazda will have the edge. I cannot tell from your question if the Mazda is a 4 wheel drive. If it is not, get the Mazda Tribute ES. Gas mileage will be better with front wheel drive because you are not pushing and pulling two drive trains, which is the case with 4 wheel drive. See if either has a tow hitch, this is a sign that the vehicle could have been pulling something. Pulling anything is wear and tear on the engine and transmission, certainly something to pay attention to at 80-90,000 miles on the odometer. Check the service records of both vehicles. One of the vehicles were taken care of better than the other. It would not be a tie, because of different owners. Another deciding point with children is to make sure the vehicle has rear seat side window air bags. It makes a huge difference to have them equipped on the vehicle. I would go as far as to say this should be a deal breaker, it is that important for safety in an SUV relative to children should something go drastically wrong. If it fits the budget and they do not have the rear side air bags, consider Britax car seats. They are very expensive car seats, but if you read up on it this particular car seat is a lifesaver compared to other more well known brands, like Graco. Lastly, which vehicle has the better set of tires so you will not have to come out of pocket anytime soon. When the time arrives, do not go cheap on tires. Tires are the single most important aspect of any car as it relates to keeping occupants safe. If the tires can not handle what is being thrown at them day in day out, I don't care how much you spend or what you drive, it becomes a death trap. You need to understand tires....Mom. Blessings.

Q: How do you reset security system on 2004 Mazda Tribute?
We've talked with the Mazda dealership and went through the routine the man we spoke with said would reset it. We've disconnected the battery and removed fuses--nothing has worked! My truck is out of gas (grin), and we're stranded until morning. Hopefully we won't have any emergencies!

A: you try locking it with the key, waiting then unlocking it using the key. Driver side door. supposedly it will work to reset any security system

Q: Should I buy a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo or 2002 Mazda Tribute?
The Jeep has 70,524 miles on it and the dealership wants $7,995 for it. The Mazda has 82,124 miles on it and the dealership wants $9,415 for it. (Both come with a 3 month/3000 mile warranty) Any opinons about either one? Should I pay sticker price or negotiate? Also which will be cheaper to fix if something breaks?

A: Negotiate! GAS Mileage is a big deal. So the Mazda is probably better. Do your research. The dealer probably took the car in on a trade and paid a lot less than the sticker price. If you are not forced to make a choice right now, wait intil the end of the month when the dealer needs to get rid of inventory to keep their tax payments lower. I had a friend who went to a dealer with 400 USD and left with a car, title, taxes paid and liscence fees all taken care of because the dealer wanted to get it off the lot. I once bought a car from a friend who worked at a dealership. She called around and found a good trade in then asked what I could afford. The car was a trade in and needed some repair, but was basically good. The dealership had given 750 for it. My friend sold it to me from her dealership for 1,000 including taxes and title. Even a good friend who earns very good money gouged me for more than I had. Good luck, and I hope you do not pay the sticker price. There are all kinds of things to negotiate. If the car needs any repair, new tires, oil changes...all that stuff. The dealership can make a good package. If you just want a good price then make an offer that is lower than you imagined...or look up how to negotiate car prices on the internet. BUT DO NOT PAY THE ASKING PRICE, please.

Q: Mazda Tribute 2001 cuts out 6-10 times immediately after every refuelling. What's the problem?
Only occurs after refuel. Bought secondhand less than 12 months ago. When running the engine goes dead without warning creating a highly dangerous situation - car is mobile with no power steering or power brakes. It is possible to slip into neutral and restart on the run while trying to control the car, but my wife can't manage this so she can't drive it after refuel. Grateful for an quick solution before someone gets killed. Mazda do not have a clue nor a suggested fix.

A: replace the gas cap - its a closed system..so hurry - QUICKLEY

Q: what is normal RPMs for my Mazda Tribute?
I just bought a used 02' tribute. I noticed the RPMs are high - or seem high to me. WhenI was travelling around 90-100km/h it was above 4000. I also have a mnaul transmission car (the tribute is auto) so maybe thats the difference. Just wondering if I should get it checked out?

A: Yes! A normal car at 100 km/h will be at 2000-2500 rpm. Sounds like it is stuck in a gear or the transmission is slipping. Get it checked out ASAP!! RD

Q: What causes transmission slippage on a mazda tribute DX 2004?
When taking off on 1st gear or reversing it feels like the transmission slips or the clutch slips and does not engage and causes the engine to shake. Could the motor mounts be the problem?

A: is normal when shift the gears a short time where the trans slips until it finally engage the engine shake could be the motor mounts and maybe is time to change the trans oil, i know you have NEVER do it before so change the trans oil and then come back

Q: Why does my 02 mazda tribute stall sometimes as soon as i start it up?
It doesn't always happen, but usually when its cold. It drives fine on the road and does not stall except for when starting up. I was thinking a MAF or an IAC valve issue.. when it is stalling at startup i can keep it going by pushing on the gas.. after a few seconds of that it idles out on its own.. any suggestions?

A: Could be many things from an EGR valve to a bad fuel pump. If you are getting an error code it would be easier to tell.
