Q: How do you check the airflow meter on a 1994 Mazda protege?
I am thinking about purchasing a 1994 Mazda Protege...and when looking online I was told to watch out for faulty airflow meters. How would I check for something like that at the car lot?
A: after 94 the flow-meter was discontinued because you can trick it for turbo engines with no need of changing ecu
in fact flow-meter was the ecu of the engine and when remove the lid you can adjust a needle and change your air/fuel ratio and tune it for turbo
i know that will not answer your question but i know you will be happy knowing that
there is no way to know if the flow-meter is going bad or not but replace it is not expensive and you can replace by yourself, the best way to know if something wrong with it is looking if the lid of the flow-meter was remove, you will know that because the surrounding silicone is not glue it like the factory,
factory silicone is like clear with yellow something like that, so if you see a different color of glue you know the flow-meter was previously open and that is a sign that could be faulty or was remanufactured flow-meter
Q: What would be the best Subwoofer to put in a 1991 Mazda Protege?
Hello, I am wondering what would be the best subwoofer to be pushed in a 1991 mazda protege dx.. I am pushing 2 10 inch spl 10's and It is not sufficent enough for me.. I would like something that you can hear a mile away but not for mucho $.. I am wondering what i should buy and any recommendations from users on yahoo.

A: Your smaller speakers "10's" probably aren't loud enough because they "punch" instead of "knock". The sounds that you hear far away is because they are at lower frequency's which can only happen with larger speakers. You can get a lower sound out of your current speakers by putting them in a "banpass" or "thunder-box", these work by echoing the sounds off of the walls inside the box, before pushing them out of the box. The norm for car speakers is 12", these have the ability to pound, but once again, depends on brand, and amp you are running. Best Buy sells a GREAT sounding box (decent quality) for 149 bucks, its two "Dual" brand 12" subs in a banpass box. So either a bigger box for your current speakers, or bigger speakers all-together.

it is a Mazda protege 2000 manual I check some fuses and it looks that they are fine. I was very cold yesterday and I park it inside today maybe it is frozen or something ?
A: Very possible. Keep it warm and dry for a day and see what happens. You should check your coolant, to see if it is OK.

Q: How to change the headlight bulb 1995 mazda protege s?
Hey, I have a 1995 mazda protege S. I burnt out a bulb and I tried to change it today. I opened the hood located the bulb and pulled out this black box with wires attatched to it and the bulb was on it. The problem is I can't get the bulb off it looks like you just need to pull really hard but i'm scared it may break. I wanted to know is it ok to just pull the bulb out or is there a trick
A: the bulb has some kind of metal pin holding the bulb from coming out
is a bit tricky to take that thing out , is like, push down the metal thing down, then while pushing down the thing pull it to the engine side (like open a door, that movement is what i talking about) and when you do so the bulb will come out easy

A: ...YOU dont...there fairly simple to replace but there in a place that can cause lots of problems,so if you have to ask,you cant do it....now if you want it done on the cheep you ask at a local taxi firm for a back street mechanics number ...normally its alot easier to replace the whole drive shafts from one froma salvage or breakers year...around £20 each...fitting shouldn't be more than £40....
garage using new Parts your looking at £500 easy.....

A: On your Protege, I believe that one horn is located near/under the passenger side parking light (inner fender). The second one should be mounted behind the front bumper, under one of the headlights.

A: oil filters are usually by the oil pan. look for the oil pan and then around it and you should see a cylindrical type can. That's your oil filter.
if you're going to replace the oil filter, you should probably change out the oil too (unless you're using synthetic.)

Yesterday while driving my w/p pulley shredded, so i went and bought a new one and have the tools needed for the repair. Now i just need to know how to do this? Its a 2003 Mazda Protege.....any help would be greatly appreciated

A: i have two cars of yours and never even with my older cars happend to me before
i guess you tighten the belt too strong and thats why it get broken but any way ill told you how to do it
(take over both belts, and if you will more confortable take out the p/s pump too)
the water pump has 4 10mm bolts so you need a long wrench, you will use the circle section of the wrench that will prevent bad coupling on the bolt
and here it comes the bad part of it the water pump will spin when you try to loose the bolts so you will need a vise grip (is pressure thing for hold things, my bad english sorry) in spanish is alicate de presion for hold the water pump from spinning and you are done is not an easy task make the vise grip hold the water pump but is better than replace the water pump because you will need to change timming on the car too
