Q: Lincoln LS?
I want to buy a Lincoln Ls, maybe a 2000 or 2001. Is there anyone who owns one or has owned one? Are they good cars? I did some reading and it seems this is car that always needs some kind of repair.

A: well i work on them all the time. window regulators break all the time. problems with the airbag system. they all seem to rattle real bad. valve covers leak and burn out the coils on the V8. that said the V8 LS is a blast to drive. fast and corners well . the new t-bird is basically the same car. and the jag is based on the LS not the other way around.

Q: What's the difference between the standard Lincoln LS and the LSE?
I am looking at 2001 and 2002 Lincoln LS V8's. I keep seeing this "LSE" model that has some improved cosmetic features but no mention of performance upgrades. What other different items did the LSE come with over the standard LS V8's?

A: The only difference is in the trim package. To be specific, the LSE gives you this: LSE Appearance Package available on V-8 Sport only includes unique 17" 7-Spoke chromed-aluminum wheels, modified front and rear fascias and side rocker panels, unique fog lamps, color-keyed grille surround with chrome vertical bars, color-keyed license-plate surround, rear deck lid spoiler, all-red tail lamps, LSE badge, LSE floor mats and unique wood interior appliques. Well, it doesn't exactly "give" it, you pay about $3,000 more for it.

Q: How much would it cost for me to reapaint a green 2000 lincoln ls into a color other than green?
Okay so exactly, Im looking for these questions. First. How much would it cost me to repaint a 2000 lincoln ls into say either a regular black or a chrome black? Second. What would be the price to completely reupholster this car?

A: It depends on who does it. Maaco may be the cheapest, so a few hundred dollar paint job won't be the best qualilty. You must get a good sanding job and quality paint to do it right. This will cost a couple thousand dollars or more since paint and supplies cost several hundred dollars and up, plus labor. Don't spend the money if you don't plan to keep the car long. Upolstery is about the same price, as well. Are you sure want to spend this much on the car? The real answer is found by getting some quotes, so get out the yellow pages. You may find a good deal.

Q: How can you tell if you have THX sound in a 2003 lincoln ls?
I bought a 2003 lincoln ls and noticed that there were two subwoofers in the near the back window. This seems like the thx sound but there is not decals on the speakers to denote this.. Does any one have any idea?

A: I am reasonably sure the THX only comes with the navigation system.

Hi, I'm still car shopping and would like to know what is wrong with getting a car with a V8 engine? What are reasons to get one with that? I'm thinking about a Lincoln LS with V8. Is the Lincoln V6 (any year) a reliable car?

A: Disadvantages - Obviously weight & fuel consumption. Because of the added weight up front, tends to nose drive under heavy braking. Car will not handle well in emergency situations. Advantages - In the case of a Lincoln LS - needed power to get that car moving. Nothing like power on demand when you need it. Very safe car crash test wise. Relatively cheaper to insure - not targeted by thieves. Lincolns tend to have average reliability. As already noted, if repair is necessary - parts tend to be expensive due to the Lincoln "luxury status".

Q: How do I replace the Serpentine Belt for a 2000 Lincoln LS?
Can anyone give me instructions on how to replace the serpentine belt for a 2000 Lincoln LS - v8? More specifically, I need to know the pattern. Thanks!

A: if there is not a sticker under the hood, it will also have a diagram in the manual. to relieve the tension idler there is an indenttion in the front of the arm. you put a 3/8 rachet into the end and turn it to move the idler this is a spring belt tension. i have seen people pull tug and use screwdrivers trying to get them on. and never notice the rachet hole. flat to flat and groove to groove is basic, and should work. however a chevy blazer belt can be put on perfectly two different ways. but one way the belt will come out about 3/4inch too long.

Q: How can I remove the driver's seat rear panel in a 2004 Lincoln LS?
The driver's side seat heater duct in my Lincoln LS has become dislodged. Need to remove the driver's seat rear panel for room to access and replace the duct. I cannot find any screws or clips or anything of the like.

A: look for screws or take a screwdriver and pop the rear panel off

A: yeah the paint is called VHT midnight shade. works great.

Q: can i put a manual transmission in a lincoln ls?
i have a 2000 lincoln ls v8. its an automatic and i was wondering if i could put a manual in it 5 speed or maybe even a 6 speed. if i could how much would it cost around.

A: The short answer is, yes. LS shares a platform with the Mustang, so you might have some luck with Mustang components. The long answer is, it's going to cost Texa$, but anything can be done if you have a deep enough wallet.

Q: How many miles can a Lincoln LS get up to?
im looking at purchasing a 2001 lincoln ls with 140000 miles on it. i know thats high but this is the car i really want to buy. im just wondering if this car will last me a couple more years or if 140000 is too high and it is going to die on me soon. basically i want to know how many miles a lincoln ls will get up to. thanks.

I have a Lincoln LS with a blown engine. I found a used engine at an auto recycler and was wondering how much do shops or individuals charge to replace the engine? I'm trying to stay away from the dealer becuase their prices are through the roof.

A: Besides going with a used engine, check your local parts store for a quality rebuilt long block. At least you'll get a 12K mile / 12 month warranty. =^ ) Also, you may be able to use the rebuilt long block info to jew the price of the used engine.

Q: Why is the horn honking and light flashing on my 2000 Lincoln LS?
I went to start my 2000 Lincoln LS and it tried to turn over and died. The after a few minutes the lights flashed and the horn honked. Now when I went back to it just opening the door made the lights flash and horn honk. I'm assuming this is some sort of error code and I'm hoping this is just a dead battery, but, this seems like a lot of hoopla for a dead battery. I can't find the codes anywhere and the shops are closed.

A: My car did that when the battery died. I have a different kind of car, but it was because the car thought I was trying to jump start it to steal it. I had to wait for it to reset and make sure i unlocked it with the key. Also make sure if you have one of those keys with the chips in it that's it's near the steering wheel when you're turning it on. If you've lost that and it's required for your car it could cause the same problem. Once I got a new battery the problem went away. I actually ended up getting it towed to the shop because it wouldn't allow me to start it at all.

Q: Do any one know how much a 2000 lincoln ls heating coil cost?
Im looking to possibly buy a 2000 lincoln ls but the only problem is that the heat works off and on and it may need a heating coil I think thats what they said. Do anyone know about how much a heating coil is for this car? Could I call advance auto and find out?

A: Heater Core, not coil. $40-$50 for the part. You did not mention what kind of lincoln. Some vehicles you literally have to take the entire dash out to replace the Core, some vehicles you can easily replace from under the dash. There are two ways for a Core to go bad. 1. Leaking. Heat would usually work, but you would be getting coolant leaking into the vehicle. 2. Plugged. Heat would be very weak or not at all. It would not work intermittently like you described. I would have the owner get the problem diagnosed and get a written estimate before you consider purchasing the vehicle. I have seen heat problems cost as little as under $100 to fix (thermostat and fresh coolant), up to $1,500 to fix (heater core, thermostat, heater control valve, pressure flush, hoses).
