Q: How much should it cost to upgrade or make current the GPS on a 2001 Lexus SUV?
Just bought a used 2001 Lexus SUV in Mint condition. The GPS Navigation system works but needs to be updated or brought up to date. How much should it cost to do this and is it something that needs to be done every year? Thank you for your help.
A: I just received a postcard from Lexus that says the new update has an MSRP of $265 plus labor.
I drive a 2004 and this is the first update they've "prompted" me to buy.
Q: which is better Lexus SUV is better GX 470 or Lexus RX 400h?
I plan on purchasing my dream car which is a Lexus in the near future..(hopefully gas prices will be down by then). I am looking for a SUV so whats the best one out of these 2?
A: Two different types of vehicles. The GX is built on a truck chassis and the RX is built on an automobile chassis. Two different types of ride. The RX is more auto like and the GX, while a nice ride (I had one) is a bit more like a truck. It's cousin is used off road world wide. Both luxurious. If you are worried about gas mileage go for the RX400h. I have a GS450h so it has lots of power (a V8's worth) but sips gas like a V6. The RX is similar: a V6 (3.5L) coupled with two electric motors. Lots of instantaneous torque and a nice ride and (relatively) good gas mileage. True, there is a premium for the hybrid but at today's gas prices it doesn't take nearly as long to erase.
Q: I want to buy a lexus suv 1999..should I get it even though it has 200,000 miles?
I want to buy a lexus suv 1999..should I get it even though it has 200,000 miles? The car is 3,100 dollars..I think its a good prize for a lexus. My local bank is selling it..it was re-pod. Should I get it?
A: that is so many miles.. i would get an extensive check through a mechanic before buying it..you would be spending a lot if there is something wrong
Q: is there a cheaper way to upgrade the GPS software on my Lexus 2001 suv?
It has Map Database Version 2000 ver. 1
the dealer charges $275 plus for the upgrade that's why i wanna know if there's a way around this.
the suv was a gift from a dear friend who wants to get rid of it.
A: Yes there is. Go to a car accessory shop (not a body shop) tell them the make of your car and the type of gps system you have and what upgrade you want, such as the 2007 version. They'll show you the makes of the gps systems or upgrades they have and then you just choose. The gps are from $300 to $500. If you want the traffic updates, its an additional $20 to about $40 a month. Upgrades are about $150 to the price the dealer is giving you.
Q: Should I get a Toyota hybrid or a Lexus suv hybrid?
Help me decide which hybrid car I should get (including if there's another one you think is better).
A: Ok...if you dont have kid you can buy the Lexus GS 450h or RX400h for the Lexus...If for toyota you can buy the new Camry V6 or Prius...I m sure you want a better design than the Prius.....If you have kids, go buy the GS 450h(only when you dont go for a camp) or else go buy the RX400h......But with due to weather this century, go buy the Lexus RX 400h Hi-Spec.....Thanx for Reading
Q: My parents want to give me my mom's lexus SUV.. is it ok for a teen?
My mom has been driving the lexus GX 470 for the past 3 years, and i'm getting my license soon and they are telling me that it's going to be my car. Is this a good car for a teen, is it to adult?
I like the car but I don't know if it's to old looking... what's your opinion is it a good car, good for a teen?
A: There really isnt a good car for a teen or an adult, its a car and yours is a lexus, those are very nice and expensive so take good care of it. Enjoy!
Q: Why does a used Dodge Ram cost more to insure than a brand new Lexus SUV???????
I am paying $1000 more for a 7 year old Dodge Ram than a brand new Lexus SUV!!!!!!!!!!!!! Same coverage and everything!
A: That thing got a hemi?? Just kidding. Seriously I think that's something to ask your insurance company and then shop around for insurance quotes. It may depend on whether or not you've had a lot of accidents. Perhaps it is you that is costing more to insure and not the vehicle??? Definitely check into it with insurance company.
Q: Do you drive or know about the Lexus hybrid FWD SUV?
If so, can you give me an idea about your actual gas mileage? The Lexus site states 27city/24 highway....does it perform better or worse than this with actual consumer usage?
A: No a good gas economizer if you are looking for a vehicle of this type and save gas. I would not buy it if is going to be a grocery getter. You might break even, the cost of buying one offset the savings.
Q: What would you think of a family that had a Mercedes SUV and a Lexus Sports car?
Not my family btw.
A: Umm... rich, or have huge debts, but I'd probably assume they were just rich... probably spend too much on things that don't matter. I'd wonder if they invest as much into their actual family, as opposed to all of the materials. But I have never had that kind of money, so don't really know what I'd do with it! I'd like to think I'd be sensible and live an ordinary life and keep my money a bit of a secret... but I think I would splurge a bit, lol
Q: Does the Lexus SUV 330 get good gas milage ?
A: Depends on how you define "good". It is rated at around 17/23ish, maybe 18/24, which to some current Suburban and Expedition owners would be very high, but to a Civic owner like myself it leaves a little to be desired.
You can get current MPG ratings at the manufacturers' website. Just click on the RX portion and choose the RX330 instead of the RX400h.

A: It's tough when you are rich...
Q: Car buying advice? American Car with around 40k or Lexus SUV with 80-100k?
I am in the market for a new car. I currenctly drive a Toyota Camry 2000. I love the Camry, never had any problems, havn't had to spend any money on anything besides routine maintenance.
I was wondering what your thoughts are on buying a new car. I have found cars like the Dodge Magnum, Chrystler 300, Chevy Malibu, Chevy Impala with around 40-50k for anywhere from 6,000-10,000.
I have also found some Lexus SUV's with around 80k-100k for around 8,000.
What would you recommend if were talking about cars in the same price range, getting the American car with around 50k miles or getting the Lexus which is basically a nice Toyota with around 90k-100k? Which will be more reliable? Which will last longer?
A: Generally speaking, a Toyota with 80k would be lower maintenance and would last longer than a domestic with that many miles. Mile for mile, almost all Japanese cars are lower maintenance and longer life-expectancy than all domestics, with few exceptions.
80k miles is not a lot for a Lexus - trust me I've driven Toyota/Lexus cars with more than 300'000 miles. The only way a domestic would get that far is if you transplanted the engine and transmission - and that's based on my experience as a mechanic.
Lexus parts and service will be more expensive, and you will have more trouble if you work on it yourself because domestic cars are known for their simplicity and availability of parts. However, the maintenance will be higher for domestics, so it's a trade-off.
I would go with the Toyota/Lexus. They will last you a lot longer and the engineering is MUCH better than any of the cars you listed. I used to love domestics, but they have let me down so many times, and the newer the car, the more likely it will be better than a domestic.
Q: I was thiking of getting a lexus suv and i wanted to know what u all think of the lexus RX350?
A: I think it's super stylish even though I liked the RX300 style better; it drives like a dream and will last you a long time..Toyota engines are awesome...I've been driving Toyota/Lexus as far as I can remember..nothing else will do!!
