Q: How do I program a 2001 Lexus GS300 Key?
I have lost all keys to my 2001 Lexus GS300. I can have a key cut at the dealer from my VIN number. Is there any way I can program it myself?

A: bring it to the dealer, it will take about 20 minutes.

Q: Lexus gs300 awd vs Avalon XLS which one should i get?
My kids think the Avalon has more freedom in the back seats but my son likes the Lexus GS300 cause of the features like the Navigator dvd player (a dvd player where your car has to be parked to play the movies) Can you compare in the followng catagories resale value reliability maintainence OverAll which one do you think is better. Lexus is made by Toyota and same with Avalon.

A: I've owned versions of both. The Avalon is larger, more room, but reliability is about the same, resale values hold about the same, but maintenance and insurance are a bit more expensive for the Lexus. Overall, they are very much the same. So, make your choice based on what you like. Be sure to have them inspected before you buy since used cars are sold "as-is" and you can't assume the cars are in good condition unless you have them checked first.

Q: Whats the difference between a Lexus GS300 & a Lexus GS400? and which is Better?
I'm getting ready to buy a new car, but I can't decide which kind of Lexus I am going to buy? The GS300 & GS400 look almost the same, but which is better?

A: Most gs400's come with a factory spoiler, 17" wheels, More power because of the V8 but suffer in the fuel economy aspect ( I avg about 18mpg). gs400's are smoother and a bit quieter just because of the engine. The gs300's are cheaper to find but are just as reliable as the V8's and don't be scared of millage these cars will last past 300,000 on original motors and transmissions. Make sure when you buy the car that the front lower ball joints have been replaces or once you do buy the car you like to have the ball joints inspected.

Q: what is the engine weight of a lexus Gs300 6 cyl. 3.0 engine?
some experimental aircraft builders are using auto engines. i have driven toyotas for the past 15 years and find their engines very dependable. i would like to consider using a lexus in a kit-built. i need weights. thanks

A: I hope you're young, because you are looking at adding 5 years and 100 extra pounds to your project by using a car engine. Also, there is NO service experience running a car engine at 75% power continuously. Typical 70 mph speeds in a car require less than 20 hp.

Q: How do i get the best acceleration in a 2006 Lexus Gs300 RWD?
Assuming im starting from a dig (fully stopped). If i turn off TC, i cant bury the throttle, or ill just smoke the tires. So should i ease into the throttle for a few thousand RPMs, then floor it? Suggestions?

A: buy a set of slicks as tires. put the car in drive and then put one foot on the brake and one on the gas. just before the car starts to move quickly take your foot off the brake pedal and slam the gas pedal down. and away you go yeaaahhhhh

Q: I want to increase horsepower to my lexus gs300. What should I install to increase horsepower?
Besides intalling a turbo or supercharger, cuz it juss cost to much and tooo much work. If I install a cold air intake or a performance exhuast, which one will give me more horsepower? My car is a 3.0 inline 6 engine. Would 2 of these things decrease HP or increase. Please help me out.

A: You will only see a slight gain, 3-5 hp without any other modifications. I run a 347 with a BDS 6-71 supercharger in my Mustang, 520hp @ 6,800rpm, that's after spending over $6,000.00 in parts and machining labor.

Q: why would my car, a lexus GS300 1994, while idling I experience the car engine intermittently show some tremor?
I have changed the distributor head and cables leading to the spark plugs, yet the tremor persists. What can I do to get rid of this tremors?

A: sounds like you experiencing a misfire, so you changed the cap, rotor, wires, plugs and still experiencing it? could be dirty injectors. worst case problem is you have a blown head gasket.

Q: Do anyone know where the parking brake wire is for a 1999 lexus gs300 and the color of the wire?
Im trying to hookup my in dash dvd player and the the video portion of the player will not work until i connect the parking brake wire. I know i can bypass this wire but that is not what I want to do.

A: if you're comfortable with it, pop up the center console around the parking brake lever. you'll see the wire attatched to it. and you can run the wire straight down from behind the player right to it. that's what i did for my 350Z good luck.

Q: How do you remove the subwoofer on a 2000 Lexus GS300?
I read something about having to remove the rear seat. Is this true?

A: baseball bat and a crowbar...i hate lexus' honestly...just bash it out...

Q: does anyone know where I can get a 1993 LEXUS GS300 fuel system diagram?
I'm trying to replace the fuel filter on my car and can't seem to find it.

A: The filter is just forward of the left rear wheel, just forward of where the fuel pipe comes down fron the fuel tank. The sneeky bit is that Toyota/Lexus put a very neat plastic shroud over the filter assembly. Remove the cover and there is your filter, Safety note. This is a dangerous job, petrol is a light explosive. The tank will fully drain uncontrollably onto the ground when you remove the filter from the fuel line. This job is best left for a person with good mechanical ability

Q: How difficult is it to change the spark plugs on a 1993 Lexus GS300?
And where can I get help via manual or diagram to assist me with doing this job?

A: on the straight six cylinder motor its pretty simple. just remove the air intake box. then remove the throttle body , which should consist of two connectors and two coolant hoses and the throttle plate cable. all very easily accessible. once you have the cable, connectors and coolant hoses dissconnected, there is one nut at the bottom of the throttle body and two long screws at the top. slide the throttle body of the rod at the bottom. then remove the three bolt that hold on the big rubber gasket. now disconnect the three coils (which the little clips will break, but dont worry. after removing the wires and coil IMPORTANT!!! blow out all the debris in the alley due to it might fall in the engine while removing the spark plugs. perform service and dont worry if you mix up the coils it wont matter. just make sure the the wire go in the rght spots. then assemble together.

Q: The lexus GS300: Is this a fast, sporty, reliable car?
I was thinking of getting a Lexus GS300. I either wanna get the 1993-1997 model OR the 1998-2002 Model. I was told that the first generation was more powerful and faster than the second generation, Is this true? Also are these cars reliable in General?

A: Is it fast.... short answer, NO. If you want fast out of the box, do yourself a favor and buy the GS400/430..... now in time they can be had all day for similar prices of the GS300. Is it sporty? Again, not really, unless you are coming from a Buick or something. Is it reliable? Heck yes, these cars last forever, only realy issue that is common with them is the need to replace the front lower control arms every 80k miles or so (few hundred bucks at most). In a nutshell, I'd only reccomend a GS300 if you have plans to mod the car engine and transmission wise. It has the 2jzge motor that is found on the almighty toyota supra and can hold insane amounts of power to even embarass the bmw M5. There's alot of suspension parts for these cars on the market, regardless of which model you end up getting, simply installing coilovers and thicker swaybars will make the car handle amazing. And no, the 1gen is not faster then the 2gen, they both have similar engines, the 1gen however has a more built motor from the factory, which can hold 700rwhp without needing to build the motor due to having thicker rods and pistons over the 2gens. The verdict? If you don't want to mess with the car and buy something that is already fast, get the GS400 (98-00).... then you can put some nice wheels on it and a drop, maybe even a lip kit. There's tons of parts for these things. Lastly, I HIGHLY reccomend you visit clublexus.com and look at the GS forums, you will drool on your keyboard how nice these cars can be made, I am sure that will help your decision. Best of luck, these are some of my favorite cars on the planet.
