Q: What are the good and bad pts about Mercedes E320? How does it compare to Lexus GS 300-400?
I dont want ppl to respond with "Just get a Lexus" " Dont spend ur $$ on cars" I want to know detials like, E320 will break down or its a gas guzzler or Lexus has better performance....

A: I have an E320 with 4 matic wagon. Good points are that it's a big, comfortable car, with a lot of class. It's also the only car that's this big inside without being a monster on the outside, and it's very light (3700 lbs) for it's size. I've owned it since it was new in 1999. It's never had anything that I would consider a major problem, like an engine or transmission issue. Fuel consumption is good for a big car: 23 MPG (US) for average driving, up to 26 on the highway. But it's had an endless list of small problems, most of which were surprisingly expensive to fix. Fortunately, I bought the extended warranty, but now that I'm done with that, the cost is mounting fast. For example, last month it burned a side view mirror. You can't make this stuff up...it literally burned, due to a shorted electric adjustment motor. Cost to replace was more than $400. The other side had gone a few months earlier, and was replaced while still under warranty. The starter simply died one day, and it took the dealer two days to repair. This was due to all the stuff that has to be removed in order to get access. If not for the warranty, it would have been a $1500 repair. I've had bad tie rods, a bad alternator, and I've replaced the seat controllers twice. The outside temperature display has been malfunctioning for months, but I choose to ignore it rather than pay the expected high price of fixing it. I've had leakage in the A/C system, which involved replacing a bunch of expensive stuff under warranty. The AM radio has never worked right, apparently that's a problem with all the E320's. Threre were a lot of similar problems. As you can see, nothing that you would call fatal, but expensive little issues that really blunt the joy of ownership. It's a difficult car to work on, so for much of this, you're stuck with dealer service. Repairs always seem to end up in the four figure range. If it was mine to do over, I would have bought a Lexus or Infinity.

I always liked this car and i am now getting one. However most of them have High mileage. I want to know if it is safe to get one with over 100k miles on it. Is it more reliable than say a 1996-2003 Maxima?

2006 lexus gs 300 3.0L 245 hp V6 not the v8... the v6 I cant find anywhere.. from the research i've done it only gives ratings for the V8. If you find what i'm looking for please give me the url. and if it's what i need you get 10 points.

A: 6.8 officially, but its in between 6.3 and 6.8. The V8 GS430 does it in 5.9 seconds.

A: the whole electrical wire harness? if the dealer cannot help you the only place that might have that is a salvage yard, if they have a wrecked 2000 lexus gs you can have them pull the harness for you.

Q: Lexus GS 300 (1991-?) as a first car?
I am looking for my first car and I like Lexus cars. I am not sure whether to get an old model Lexus ES (1991-1992) or the GS 300. If you have any advice, let me know. Perhaps a comparison between the two models. Thank you.

A: I would go with a 95' or newer ES if your budget is good for it. GS is going to be more money initially and maintenance/gas wise. ES is very good on gas but the older ones, 92-94 have several known problems with motor and trans. Even a 95' with 90K will be better off then the older ES or GS.

Q: How do you change spark plugs on a 1999 Lexus GS 300?

my mother has bought a lexus gs 300 series 1993 or 98 but the cd changer doesn't work i put in the cds and it says error the manual isnt much help , the thing is it works sometimes just not constantly.

A: probably dirty... give it a clean and see if that helps. What kind of CD you using, maybe they are old and scratched up. Also, the indash units are more sensitive to CD labels, so maybe do without them. Peace...

i have a 2003 lexus gs 300 and am using a sony tape deck adapter to play my ipod. sometimes it works and sometimes it just ejects. should i find a different tape deck adapter or is there something i can use other then an fm transmitter.

A: What type of sensors..there are many differient types,depending on what system you are talking about. If it's oxygen sensors ther are four.

Q: Who here knows about car problems? I have a 93 lexus Gs 300, and have a problem.?
About 3 weeks ago i got an oil change, and just recently i checked my oil and it was empty. There was very little oil, and i know for a fact my car doesnt leak oil at all.So i took it to back to the place where they changed my oil, and they told me if im not leaking oil, then i must be burning the oil way too fast. What does this mean? Is something wrong with my engine? How can i figure out the cause of the problem?

A: If your piston rings are damaged, oil that lubricates the engine will get in your cylinders and will be combusted along with the gas and air. So while you are burning fuel, you are burning oil too. 3 weeks is pretty fast to burn all of your oil. If burning oil you will also notice your engine runs a little rough and you will have blue smoke coming out of your exhaust.
