Q: Does anyone know of a good Lexus or Japanese Import shop or mechanic in Lexington, Kentucky?
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew of a good, trustworthy mechanic or mechanic shop in Kentucky that works on Lexus cars. I know the obvious place is the Lexus dealership, but I have heard about a lot of people getting charged for extra stuff and charged outrageous prices. Of course that can happen anywhere, but I know if it happens at Lexus, that it'll cost me a whole lot more than the average place.
A: My husband and I have had 3 Lexus vehicles over the years (have 2 currently). We've always used the Lexus dealership in Nicholasville for maintenance and never been overcharged or had them try and talk us into anything. I've even had two minor things comped. They are very honest. On my last visit I was talking about whether to change from my Lexus RX to a Lexus ES or Toyota Avalon. The staff was very upfront and said while they are comparable, the Avalon was the better car.
For auto body work we use Auto Sports Collision Care Incorporated on Industry Pkwy in Nicholasville (859-885-4016) Very nice, honest, and quick. Work well with insurance companies so you don't have the headaches.

Q: How do I fix a broken automatic windshield wiper on a Lexus ES330?
I have a 2004 Lexus ES330, just bought it used. I love it but the goofy automatic windshield wiper setting doesn't seem to work at all. (Why anyone would want an automatic raindrop sensor is beyond me, but I digress). Any ideas on how to troubleshoot it before I take it to the Lexu$ dealer? Thanks!
A: Usually when the windshield is replaced the automatic wiper
sensor is installed without a a gel pad, or incorrectly. If not then the sensor is bad. This part is best installed by a Lexus
technician, and is a dealer only item, ie it can only be purchased through lexus.
Q: Has anyone taken a Lexus to a Toyota dealer for maintenance?
There is a very good Toyota dealer that takes care of my Camry. They only charge half as much as the Lexus dealer for the same level of maintenance. They say the drive train is the same, and the mechanics all know about the Lexus. Is that true?
A: yup
Q: Why would you pay 30k for a Lexus when you can get the same car- a Toyota for way cheaper?
What is the deal? Toyota and Lexus both use the same cheap quality parts, just because Lexus reputation is so high as a luxury car doesn't make it better than other luxury cars. For example an Infiniti M45 or an Audi's a typically around the same price as Lexus's and they use way better parts.
A: I look at it the same way. Also, why would I want to buy a car for 30k when I can buy a decent - in shape house - for the same price, put 30k more into it and turn it around and sell it for 100k? Then use that money to buy a car that is 3 yrs old, 60k miles with 2yrs left on the the warranty for about 5k and walk away with money left over. When cars become the prices of small homes or 6 yrs worth of house payments, it's definitely time to rethink the economy in which we live.
Sorry for the ramblings, but I hope you see what I am getting at.
Q: How much should I expect to spend to replace one speaker in my Lexus?
I have a 2000 Lexus RX300, and the speaker in the rear passenger door seems to be busted..
About how much will I be spending?
A: If you plan to replace them yourself then around $50-200 depending what kind of speakers you want. I recommend Infinity Kapps speakers, very loud and clear, around $70-150.

You can go to best buy or circuit city and let them do it for you but might cost more.
Q: What is the estimated value of a lexus rx300 with 77k miles?
The lexus rx300 2wheel drive is in good condition, what is the estimated value?
He is trying to sell it to me for aprox 18k-19k. Is this a good deal?
btw it's a '03
A: I have an '01 Rx300 and it's a great ride - very reliable, strongly recommend the car. however, they stopped manufacturing the Rx300 in 02 and switched it to the Rx330 - big price difference. Check out www.kbb.com or edmunds.
Q: How do I turn off the security system lockout on a Lexus 450lx?
My gear shifter on my 1997 Lexus 450lx is now locked out so I have to use a pen to shift every time I put the car in park. I think it's related to the Lexus' security system.
Can anyone tell me how to turn it off so I can shift??
A: Check your brake lights, there is an odd chance that a bad brake light switch is not unlocking the shifter gate.
Q: How do I upload address book from Blackberry to a Lexus car?
I just purchased a Lexus 440H which has a cool blue tooth hands free phone system. I have a Blackberry 7100G phone and my wife has the Razr, both Cingular. I can't figure out how to transfer the phone book information via bluetooth from either phone into the Lexus phone book. I successfully paired both phones and can call from either, but have to dial manually. I tried using my laptop which has bluetooth and a way to transmit Outlook Phone numbers, but my PC and Lexus do not want to pair up (I think the Lexus is only looking for phones). Help!
A: I needed to delete all of the phones installed
Remove all phone types
Reset or turn car off and on to reset Unit
Enable Bluetooth on BB
Set type to Bluetooth Handsfree (on car)
Set type to Bluetooth Handsfree (on BB 7100)
Set BB to Discoverable
Select Trusted to yes under device properties
Select "find devices" on BB - I tried this at least 10 times
Select "Setting" on car - will start device search (1 minute time out)
Hold BB near the GPS unit display - don't ask me why...
Should be prompted to enter passcode (0000)
Select "Add Phones" (on car) - should display BB device
Select BB device
Once all of the setting have been set then you need to "OK" everything and restart the unit or car.
I was not taking notes during this process. I was actually getting ready to return the BB because I could not get it to work. I cannot promise this will work but it might be a good start.
Good luck.
I have not tried to sync the contacts list or calendar.
OR IF THAT DON"T WORK TRY THIS...
Blackberry 7100G SOLUTION
I too have a Blackberry 7290 and it is true that you cannot transfer data from it to anything else. It seems that Blackberry offers carrier specific programming to all the major phone companies; but they have all decided to lock the data transfer feature out completely from working. Even though these phones do support the capability, Blackberry seems to have recommended to the major phone carriers to NOT ALLOW for such data transfer in order to protect big companies from having data being stolen. This is a total bunch of bull !
In the meantime you can buy a Siemans S56 on eBay (make sure it has a Sim card - if not, buy for $10.00 delivered on eBay). Put in names and numbers in the S56. Add Siemans to the Lexus as additional bluetooth phone. Transfer phonebook from S56 to Lexus. Select Blackberry again as primary bluetooth phone. All names and numbers show up in Lexus LS430 navigation system and you can select and auto dial.
Good Luck!
Q: What is the part number for the new Lexus license plate bulbs?
Newer Lexus cars have license plate bulbs that have HID like lighting to them. It looks great. I need the part number to see if this bulb can be used on other cars.
A: The lexus part number is 2825, and I found a generic at the first link below. Check the second link, below, and see if your car calls for any of these bulbs:
T10, T-10, 194, 168, 158, 12256, 12961, 2821, 2825, W5W
If it does, the ones at the first link will work for you.
Q: How much does routine maintenance service cost for Lexus automobiles. What's the range?
Looking to buy a Lexus soon, and was curious about how much it costs to get it serviced.
A: It depends on how much you drive. If you drive 20,000 miles a year the lexus will cost about 1700-2200 annually depending on your location. Thats counting one brake job, 4 tires, 4 oil changes, one wheel alignment, 4 tire rotations and $200 for cleaning and msc things. This does not include the insurance cost. The gasoline should cost about $3300 or so again depending on your location based on 325 a gallon for premium fuel or about 28 cents a mile. The average lexus in our control includeing depreciation, insurance and finance charges is running between 70 and 80 cents a mile for 20,000 miles. If I had your location i could give you more accurate numbers
Q: Why does the Lexus handle so poorly in snow and ice?
I have an Altima, and it does very well in snow and ice. I see the Lexus there, struggling to get out and the wheels spinning. What does it handle so poorly?
A: Which Lexus are you talking about? An Altima is front wheel drive, while the only Lexus that are front drive are the ES350 and RX350 with FWD. FWD will always handle better in snow because the "turning" wheels are the ones gaining traction and so you can turn into traction. With RWD, once you hit a slippery point, you'll just continue to slip because you won't be able to turn out of it. What you're seeing are probably the RWD Lexus with crap tires or the drivers are just over pushing the vehicles. It's not just Lexus, it's any RWD vehicle.
Good snow tires, with sufficient weight in the rear, will make a RWD handle much better.
